OREANDA-NEWS. January 18, 2012. Belarus Premier Mikhail Myasnikovich is set to pay a working visit to Turkmenistan.

The Belarusian head of government is supposed to meet with President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow of Turkmenistan, Vice Premiers of the Turkmen government Baimurad Khojamukhamedov and Sapardurdy Toylyev.

Mikhail Myasnikovich and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow will be given a tour of the construction site of the Garlyk ore-dressing and processing plant. The program of the visit envisages a presentation of joint Belarusian-Turkmen projects.

In January 2010 Belgorkhimprom and the Turkmenkhimiya Concern signed the contract for the construction of a mining and processing complex at the Garlyk minefield (Lebap Oblast, Turkmenistan) to produce 1.4 million tonnes of potash fertilizers a year.

The trade between Belarus and Turkmenistan has doubled over the last five years. The growth has been mainly attributed to an increase of the Belarusian export. The bilateral trade guaranteed stable surplus for Belarus. In 2010 mutual trade totaled USD 90.7 million, up 21.1% from 2009. Export rose 19.3% to USD 87.2 million. Import almost doubled to USD 3.6 million. Trade surplus for Belarus made up USD 83.6 million in 2010.

In January-November 2011 bilateral trade reached USD 210.8 million, up 3 times as compared with the same time in 2010. Export soared 3 times as well to total USD 203.3 million.
