M2M telematics has delivered a consignment of GLONASS equipment purchased by the Russian Buses – GAZ Group company to be installed on the vehicles of the Likinsky Bus Plant. Implementation of GLONASS technologies is being performed under the signed contract for the amount of 75 million rubles. According to the contract terms and conditions, this navigation and communication equipment is to be installed on 1.5 thousand buses directly on the LiAZ assembly line (incorporated into "GAZ Group").

It is not the first time M2M telematics works directly with the automotive industry. It is much easier to install the GLONASS equipment on buses within the production process, that is at the stage of their assembly. In this case there is no need to withdraw a vehicle from the route and look for replacement. The marketing director of M2M telematics Mrs. Svetlana Khadonova thinks that in that case both the end user and the producer win by improving the functionality of the product.

Within the last few years, the transport sector of the Russian Federation has been developing rapidly, including the enhancement of transport fleets and the growth of the passenger and freight traffic density. Ensuring transportation security and passenger safety becomes one of the priority directions of the transport policy carried out by the Russian government.

The Russian Buses – GAZ Group LLC director for coordination and development of logistics and purchase Doctor of Science Mr. Victor Polonsky adds that GAZ Group as the market leader in production of buses of various capacity seeks to make passenger transportation as much as safe and comfortable also by way of introduction new Hi-Tech navigation solutions.

In accordance with the contract, the LiAZ buses to be involved in passenger transportation of Moscovites on the urban routes in addition to the navigation and communication equipment will have on board video cameras for internal and external surveillance with infrared illumination as well as a set of special transducers and a video register. Such a Safe bus is an element of the Intellectual transportation system (ITS).

ITS is a combined system integrating modern information, navigation, geo-information and telecommunication technologies and ensuring effective management of the road and transport systems in individual cities and in the regions in order to increase the road net capacity and transportation economic efficiency, to provide comfort and safety for passengers, etc.

Previously introduction of M2M telematics GLONASS solutions was successfully implemented in co-operation with the leaders the Russian automotive industry: KamAZ automotive corporation, Tractor Works group as well as CJSC Special Firefighting Vehicles production association, CJSC Rescue equipment, the Ural firefighting equipment plant and many other producers of firefighting and rescue equipment for the needs of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry.
