OREANDA-NEWS. January 16, 2012. Danube Logistics received the first container and general cargo vessel at is newly constructed container and general cargo terminal at Giurgiulesti International Free Port, spokesperson of Danube Logistics has said.

The Estonian vessel called MV Kalana has been chartered by Danube Logistics for its weekly service for the transportation of containers and general cargo between Giurgiulesti International Free Port and Marport near-by Istanbul in Turkey. Danube Logistics’ first client for its new services has become the Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), the world’s second largest container carrier. Danube Logistics is very proud by this, Thomas Moser, the Chairman of the Administrative Board of Danube Logistics SRL, has stated. Danube Logistics will provide an excellent service to Moldovan and international companies wishing to import or export containers to Moldova.

Danube Logistics SRL is the general investor, owner and operator of Giurgiulesti International Free Port (GIFP), which, apart form the container terminal and the general cargo terminal, includes terminals for oil product, grain corps and bulk cargos. The construction of the general cargo and container terminal started in April 2010 and was implemented by aid of international and local construction companies and suppliers.
