Air Moldova Presents Results for 2011
OREANDA-NEWS. January 16, 2012. In the period January – December 2011 the company transported about 487 000 passengers, which exceeds by 5% the indexes of the year 2010. The greatest growth of a volume of passenger traffic is noted on directions Kiev (94%), Vienna (89%), London (84%) and Paris (34%), reported the press-centre of Air Moldova.
In 2011, Air Moldova opened two new destinations to Sochi and Surgur. On the new destination Chisinau-Sochi the airline transported 7000 passengers.
Based on code-share agreement with Austrian Airlines on the joint exploitation of the Vienna-Prague and Vienna-Amsterdam inter-European air lines in 2011, Air Moldova airline for the first time exercise its commercial rights on the international routes Chisinau-Prague and Chisinau-Amsterdam through a third country.
In the period of 27.06.2011-01.07.2011 Air Moldova had undergone an IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) reaching compliance in different operational areas like: Management and Control including Safety and Quality Systems, Flight, Dispatch, Maintenance, Cabin, Ground Handling, Cargo and Security Operations. Thus Air Moldova obtained outstanding results.
In 2011 Air Moldova airline joined BSP Austria, Russia and Cyprus - Billing and Settlement Plan. It allows air tickets selling for direct and connecting flights of Air Moldova on the territory of Austria, Russia and Cyprus throughout the network of agencies, members of BSP in these countries.
More than 9600 passengers travelled within Air&Rail program in 2011 – a increase of 33% compare to 2010, implemented by Air Moldova in partnership with “Deutsche Bahn AG”. Air&Rail program gives the opportunity to get from Frankfurt airport to any of 6000 railway stations situated in Germany and back. The cost of ticket includes air transportation from Chisinau to Frankfurt and from Frankfurt to any of 6000 railway stations.
Implemented airline marketing initiatives, attracted new, not previously existed on the airline market in Moldova, transfer passengers who used the flights "Air Moldova" from Moscow, St.-Petersburg, Sochi and Kiev to Europe trough Chisinau, as a transit point. In 2011 "Air Moldova" carried 9500 transit passengers via hub in Chisinau. The number of transit passengers in 2011 has increased by 5% as compared to the precedent year.
Tickets sales on-line via the official website www.airmoldova.md is in rising in 2011 and shows a 65mln USD figure – by 34% more than in 2010. For the last four years since its launch, the service has gained vast popularity among the customers of Air Modova. "Air Moldova began in 2011 to do on-line sales - the sale of airline tickets with discounts for all the flights of its route network.
In 2011, Air Moldova signed electronic interline-agreements with – EL AL Israel Airlines, Air China and TAP Portugal.
Air Moldova operates flights to 20 destinations, Frankfurt, Vienna, Bucharest, Istanbul, Antalya, Lisbon, Madrid, London, Athens, Larnaka, Rome, Milan, Verona, Paris, Varna, Moscow, St.Petersburg, Sochi, Surgut and Kiev, offering to its passengers two Class of service - Business and Economy.
