Rail Way of Moldova to Continue Work without Closing Railway Stations
OREANDA-NEWS. January 13, 2012. This has been announced by deputy minister of transport and road infrastructure Valeriu Ciubuc during the meeting at the round table were the project on proposals of public policies concerning inefficiency of energy consumption of motive-power equipment in the system of railway roads of Moldova for 2012-2021 has been discussed.
The project is aimed at diesel consumption reducing by 40% and at improving efficiency of rail way roads of Moldova. The closure of railway stations in suburbs is one of four variants proposed by the ministry of transportation to improve the situation. However, according to Valeriu Ciubuc, it does not mean this variant to be implemented.
In the framework of the round table experts have analyzed all four proposals and came to the conclusion that the steps on enhancing the efficiency of energy use should be continued as it has been proposed in the first variant. According to it, a system of monitoring supplies and fuel rate should be introduced and substitution of wooden sleepers with concrete one and replacement of old rails should be continued.
According to experts, the Rail Ways of Moldova has to invite a special company to prepare a feasibility report, to analyze the variants suggested and to propose some other possible options.
