OREANDA-NEWS. January 12, 2012. Bashneft has inaugurated a powerful new data processing center capable of consolidating information from all regions where Bashneft has operations. The facility will become the core of centralized IT-infrastructure for the company. Construction of Bashneft’s center-the first of this scale in the Republic of Bashkortostan-was completed by SITRONICS Bashkortostan and Asteros in only 14 months. Bashneft invested 342.76 million rubles in the project.

The center will facilitate centralized processing and reliable access to data and to the company’s vitally important business software applications, particularly its ERP system and systems for managing production. Guarantees that the information system will work without interruption and that authorized users will have continuous access to corporate information are achieved with level 2N redundant equipment for critical engineering systems. The redundancies bring indicators of the center’s access above requirements for Tier III facilities. Climate control for the data processing center is handled with a mixed cooling system that combines traditional cold supply with cooling units. Counters capable of consuming up to 560 kilowatts of energy are located in a 400-square-meter area, and elements of the cooling system are situated between those counters.

The most advanced technical solutions and equipment from leading global producers were used in the building’s design and construction. The local area network and the data storage systems were based on technologies from Cisco and EMC. Lampertz security modules were used to protect IT from external forces. And the facility’s power supply was built with solutions from APC and Schneider Electric.

"Without adequate reliability and flexibility in IT infrastructure, both effective development of the company and enhancement of its business processes become impossible," said Igor Kalyuzhny, Bashneft’s Vice President for Information Technologies. "Construction of the data processing center became strategically essential. The facility lowers operational risks from unplanned events that interrupt the work of information systems, and it ensures Bashneft of a qualitatively new level of IT support for the primary business of the company."
