The WSBI is one of the largest non-commercial banking associations and serves as a representative of savings banks and other retail banking institutions throughout the world. The number of states participating in the organization is 92, the total assets of which amount to more than EUR 10 trillion. After becoming a member of this association Belarusbank has acquired a number of advantages, such as participating in political and economic decisions making process in the international financial arena; conducting of researches together with the leading international and regional organizations; representing the organization members as well as presenting the results of their work in public events - conferences, round tables; providing of support in fundraising. The association was registered in Belgium on February 2, 1996.

The association includes such banks as Ceska Sporitelna AS, Ceskoslovenska Obchodni Banka, a.s. (Czech Republic), BPCE (France), Deutscher Sparkassen- und Giroverband e.V. (Deutschland), Associazione di Fondazioni e di Casse di Risparmio SpA (Italy), PKO Bank Polski SA (Poland), Slovenska Sporitelna AS (Slovakia), Swedbank (Sweden), Lloyds Banking Group (United Kingdom), Wells Fargo (USA).
