OREANDA-NEWS. January 12, 2012. Reliance Infrastructure Limited (RInfra), a Reliance Group company today commenced operations of its 5th Road Project. The widening operations of 90 kms, from 2 to 4 lanes from Trichy to Dindigul has just been completed. The 90Kms Trichy-Dindigul project is executed as BOT (Build Operate Transfer) pattern under the National Highways Development Program. The toll collections at Trichy -Dindigul corridor is starting from midnight of January 11, 2012.

The project was awarded to RInfra by NHAI which connects major urban centric cities like Manaparai, Vaiyampatty, Ayyalur, Vadamadurai, and Dindigul. The stretch further connects to a popular station of KodaiKanal. The contract entails a concession period of 30 years and the construction has been completed.

This project is executed on Build Operate Transfer with a project cost of Rs.600 crore.

Starting Midnight on January 11, 2012, RInfra has completed construction of 2 to 4 lanes of the corridor of Trichy- Dindugul stretch and will maintain the existing 4-lane road. The toll points will add to the customer experience & delight by providing smooth ride throughout the stretch. To reduce stopover time at Toll Plaza, an Advanced toll management services (ATMS) has been installed to automate tolling which provides CCTVs, speed detectors and other services to monitor traffic flow on the road. The stretch of Trichy to Dindigul has constructed structures 10 underpasses, 10 Minor Bridges, 5 Major Bridges. Apart from these existing flyovers and culverts, a service road has been widened.

To enhance safety, RInfra will introduce Medical, First Aid, Vehicle Rescue Post and Patrolling services at the toll plazas. The modern-state-of-art restrooms will be built across the entire stretch of the toll plaza corridor. Road furniture including road signs, pavement markings, crash barriers, delineators which will enhance safety for the users will also be included.

RInfra has emerged as the largest concessionaire of NHAI with 11 road projects totaling 970 kms worth about Rs.12,000 crore (US\\$ 2.6 billion) with more than 6,000 people working at various sites.
