Yanukovych Demands to Review Sharing of Funds for Regional Growth
OREANDA-NEWS. January 12, 2012. President Viktor Yanukovych demands the Government to review in January the distribution of funds provided in the State Budget 2012 for regional development, he said at a meeting of the Committee on Economic Reforms.
The President said the current funds distribution built into the budget is disproportionate. "I request the Prime Minister, the Minister of Finance and the whole Government to consider this question together with the regions in January, without waiting even until February. All the resources meant for regional development, which are provided in the budget, should be distributed fairly," he said.
Viktor Yanukovych noted that in 2012, most of the reforms will be implemented in the regions, thus local institutions, departments and services will face extraordinary load.
"The real work will take place in the regions. I would like to ask you again, dear colleagues, as I have last year, not to travel to the regions accompanying the President as ‘wedding generals’ for the sake of appearance... If I or the Prime Minister come to a region, you should report to us on how this work is carried out on the ground," he said, referring to the Committee members.
