01.04.2011 EENet's subscription to GEANT network was upgraded from 2.5 Gbps to 5 Gbps and the World Service - transit channel to other networks - from 1 Gbps to 2.5 Gbps, reported the press-centre of EENet.

05.05.2011 the connection speed of PoP in Tartu, Raekoja plats 14 was upgraded from 1 to 10 Gbps

21.12.2011 the speed of the Tallinn-Kuressaare backbone was upgraded from 20 to 50 Mbps

26.12.2011 additional 10 Gbps connection between EENet and RTIX was launched in Tallinn

Most important cooperation projects

GN3 project continued
In June 2011 the ETAIS project was launched. The aim of the project is to provide Estonian researchers a high performance computing infrastructure for large scale computations and data storage. The partners in the project are University of Tartu, EENet, Tallinn University of Technology and National Institute of Chemical Physics and Biophysics

DC-NET project ended on 30.11.2011
The 10th computer drawing competition was organised in cooperation with the State Forest Management Centre and the Estonian Society of Foresters in the framework of The International Year of Forests. A total of 5339 pictures by 4869 authors participated in this years competition.
