OREANDA-NEWS.  January 10, 2012. President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov in his congratulation to the media workers on 27 June 2011 emphasized the need for provision of new privileges and preferences to further develop the sphere.

Resolution of the head of the state “on assignment of additional tax benefits and preferences to further develop the media” from 30 December 2011 was another practical manifestation of the high attention and care. A number of preferences for publishers also were identified in it.

In particular, printing companies are exempt from some taxes, mandatory and customs payments. The size of other tax and mandatory payments also were significantly reduced for five years.

Publishing houses and printeries of the country are developing in accordance with the requirements of time.

Previously, preparation of the matrixes and cliches for the production of books and other printed materials required too much time. And these productions were very harmful to human health and the environment. Today, all these processes are executed on the basis of new technologies meeting international standards.

Since independence, the number of publishers in the country increased from 9 to 104. Ten years ago only 5 corporate publishers existed in Uzbekistan, now their number reached 57.

At the publishing-polygraphic creative house Uzbekistan, modern printing technologies are used instead of outdated equipments. As a result, volume of printing products increased by 12 times.

Only in 2011, more than 30 million units of qualitative copybooks corresponding modern standards and national values of our people were issued.

For example, over 1.6 thousand tons of newsprint had been spent for the production of 35 million copies of more than 50 newspapers and magazines in 2011. Its delivery was accompanied by certain customs payments.

According to the resolution, publishers will not pay customs fees for imported printing materials for five years. It means that millions soums will be available for publishers.

The size of the mandatory payments of publishing and printing organizations in the Foundation Ijod at the Writers Union of Uzbekistan also reduced from 2% to 1%.

Savings will be directed to continue modernization of publishing and printing industries.

It will be an important factor in further enhancing the competitiveness of domestic products on the world market.
