Tallink’s Passenger Volumes Increased by 4.4% in December, 2011
OREANDA-NEWS. January 09, 2012. In December 2012 AS Tallink Grupp transported 711 125 passengers which is 4.4 percent more than a year before. The number of transported cargo units reached 21 016 (-6.7%) and passenger vehicles 76 351 (+2.1%).
On the routes between Finland and Sweden Tallink transported 225 244 passengers (+2%), between Estonia and Sweden 78 099 passengers (+6.3%), on the Sweden-Latvia route 53 232 (+2.6%) passengers and on Estonia-Finland route 354 550 (+6.8%) passengers in December.
The number of transported passenger vehicles increased by 2.1 percent to 76 351 and the number of transported cargo units decreased by 6.7 percent to 21 016 in December 2011.
The results of all segments (passenger, passenger vehicle and cargo units) in comparison to the same time period of the year 2010 were influenced by the chartering of the Superfast vessels in August 2011 and ending of the operations on Finland-Germany route due to the charter of the vessels.
In the last four months of the 2010/2011 financial year (September-December) AS Tallink Grupp transported 2 750 344 passengers which is nearly a 3 percent increase compared to the previous year. The number of passenger vehicles increased by almost 1 percent to 313 700 and the number of trucks and trailers decreased over 4 percent to 95 004 units in same comparison.
