Baosteel Established Lab for Comprehensive Utilization of Steel Slags
OREANDA-NEWS. January 06, 2012. To accelerate the conversion of scientific and technological achievements, enhance the technology innovation capability and technical level of comprehensive utilization of renewable resources and drive the development of circular economy, recently "Joint Lab for Comprehensive Utilization of Steel Slags" set up by Baosteel Development Corp. and Baosteel Research Institute was established officially. Deputy Party secretary of Baosteel Group Corporation and chairman of Baosteel Development Corp. Fu Zhongzhe, vice president of Baosteel Co., Ltd. Li Yongxiang unveiled the joint lab together.
Comprehensive utilization of renewable resources is an important business of Baosteel Development Corp., after the developments for so many years, it possesses the advantages in application, development and production of steel slags in the field of building material and is building the pilot production lines for paving brick and molding sand made of steel slags. Baosteel Research Institute has the advantages in the R&D of steel product development, green manufacturing technology, energy saving and emission reduction technologies. The establishment of joint lab realizes resources sharing and advantage complementation of both parties. With the development of new technologies as the vehicle, conversion of scientific and technological achievements as the target, to solve key technical problems through forward-looking technical research, and effectively improve Baosteel's capability of industrialization of comprehensive utilization of steel slags, and increase the added value of comprehensive utilization of steel slags through technology innovation to further expand the industrial scale and brand influence, serve the main steel business better and drive the scientific development of the enterprises.
Now the joint lab team has preliminarily determined 5 topics including slag wool produced with hot blast furnace molten slag, steel slags used for agricultural fertilizers etc. to be developed jointly in 2012, and the scientific research plan will be implemented in the mode of project operation. In the meantime, a batch of young technical talents will be fostered in the implementation of the projects.
