OREANDA-NEWS. December 30, 2011. This month, the selection and award ceremony of “China Hearts” 2011 Top Ten engines was held in Beijing. As a result, SQRE4G16 (1.6DVVT) engine independently developed by Chery ranked among the “top ten engines in 2011”. This was the fifth time that Chery’s independently developed engine had won the honor after SQR484F (ACTECO2.0L) engine in 2006, SQR477F (ACTECO1.5L) engine O 2.0TGDI) engine in 2010, fully displaying Chery’s tremendous R & D strength in core automotive technologies such as engine.

 “China Hearts” Top Ten Engines was launched by Auto Sports in 2006 on reference of the “World Top Ten Engines” organized by authoritative U.S. auto magazine Ward’s Auto Word, is the country’s only automotive engine selection, is unanimously recognized by the auto industry and the media, and is reputed as the “Oscar” in China’s automotive engine industry. The judging panel consisted of 10 members, including six senior engine experts, two senior media experts, an expert in an automobile test center and a staff member of Auto Sports. The ten judges compared and scored entering engines, assigned different weights to different items and added up scores of all items. Based on the final results of scoring, the “Top Ten engines” were selected. A total of 36 outstanding engines from 30 automakers and engine manufacturers entered for the selection. After comprehensive tests of eight items of every engine, including static observation, electric control calibration, NVH performance, startup performance, starting acceleration performance, sudden acceleration performance, sudden deceleration performance and acceleration response, SQRE4G (1.6DVVT) was unanimously recognized by judges for its outstanding performance and outperformed similar engines to rank among the top 10.

According to the judges, SQRE4G (1.6DVVT) is a gasoline engine with largest displacement among the proprietary engines awarded, fully demonstrating the leading role of Chery in technical strength and R & D of proprietary auto brands. Currently, key models such as A3, Tiggo and new G3 have been equipped with the engine. By outstanding power performance and energy conservation and environmental protection performance, SQRE4G16 will produce better economic and social benefits.
