Ukraine Declares Innovation Infrastructure Development as Key Task
OREANDA-NEWS. December 29, 2011. Development of innovation infrastructure is a key task for next year. This is emphasized by the leadership of the State Agency for Science, Innovation and Information.
"Over the past year, in science and technology, innovation areas have appeared world-class achievements. This is a real evaluation of our joint work", - the Head of the State Agency for Science, Innovation and Information of Ukraine Volodymyr Semynozhenko said at the final meeting of the Board of the Agency. Such achievements are concentrated in the areas: biotechnology, nanotechnology and nanomaterials, information technology, nuclear medicine. For example, this year the Ukrainian scientists have developed new nanomaterials, which have no analogues in the world and can be used to monitor the storage of nuclear fuel. U.S.A and Japan have already expressed the interest in the development.
The positive trend in 2011 is a promotion of international cooperation. Thus, Ukraine actively participates in EU framework programs and the level of scientific and technical cooperation occupies ninth place among the member countries of the Seventh Framework Programme, which are not EU members. Next year, our state can enter to the three leaders. Also in 2012, Ukraine will become an associate member of the European Center for Nuclear Research (CERN). Since the beginning of 2012 year the Foundation for Small Business and Innovation Centre for high technology start to work, will be created a national venture capital firm. The same sequence change and legislation that would make innovation profitable business.
