TISCO Li Guoping Wins China Youth Technology Award
OREANDA-NEWS. December 27, 2011. China Science Association Member’s Day and the 12th Chinese Youth Technology Award-giving Conference was held in Beijing. Li Guoping from TISCO Technology Center is one of the 100 youth scientific and technical workers who won the prize. This is the first time that TISCO Young Worker won this award which started the precedent of enterprise staff won this prize in Shanxi Province for 20 years. Li Guoping is one of the only two winners in Shanxi Province.
China Youth Technology Prize selected every two years, aiming at make young academics and technology leaders in world frontier of science and technology field, and award the youth science and technology talents who made outstanding contribution in national economic development, social progress and innovation of science and technology. In 1987, Tsien Hsue-shen and other scientists proposed to set up "China Science Association Youth Science and Technology Award", which changed to "China youth Technology Award" in 1994.
The year’s China youth technical awards won by 100 outstanding youth scientific and technical workers selected from 730 candidates recommended by 211 units. Before then, during eleven periods totally 1098 young scientific and technical workers have won the prize. The winners are mostly grown into leaders of the subject and technology areas, among them, 46 are elected as academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering.
Profile of Li GuoPing: born in 1975, professor level senior engineer, TISCO Technology Center researcher. He has taken charge of the technology development and industrialization production of metal cladding materials, duplex steel and heat resistant steel series, high nitrogen austenitic stainless steel and other new materials, and developed a series of new varieties with economize resources and excellent performance, all those filled a number of domestic blanks. Such high grade special material can met the urgent need of key projects and key areas like large water conservancy project, the third generation of nuclear power station, sea water desalination facilities, special vessel manufacturing, petroleum and petrochemical, paper making and etc., playing an important role in structure adjustment and technology advance of stainless steel materials. He has participated and taken in charge of national "973 Plan" project, science and technology innovation project in Shanxi Province and other scientific research work, taken the lead in formation of national standards of Stainless Steel Clad Plate and Strip. He has won one second prize of national science and technology progress prize, five second prizes of provincial science and technology progress prize, one national key new product award. He has been authorized two invention patents, and published nearly 20 papers in all kinds of periodicals and international meetings. He has won honorary titles such as Outstanding Scientific and Technological Worker of Shanxi Province, Taiyuan Youth Talent Award and TISCO Super Model.
