Power Machines Manufacture Standby Power Equipment for Tianwan NPP
OREANDA-NEWS. December 21, 2011. Power Machines OJSC has manufactured, tested and passed a standby rotor for 1,000 MW turbo generators forming part of the turbine sets operated at the Tianwan NPP to the customer.
A contract to manufacture and supply standby power equipment was concluded with Rosenergoatom Group OJSC. Under the contract terms, Power Machine are to manufacture and supply a new TВВ-1000-2УЗ turbo generator rotor as well as a set of mounting device, tools and spare parts to the Tianwan NPP. The completion of equipment deliveries is scheduled for the end of January 2012.
The Tianwan NPP is the largest project implemented within the framework of economic co-operation between the People’s Republic of China and the Russian Federation. At the end of 1997, Russia’s Atomstroyexport and Jiangsu Nuclear Power Corporation entered into a contract to supply the equipment for two NPP power units. In 1999, Atomstroyexport, as the general equipment supplier, concluded a contract with Power Machines to manufacture two turbines each having a capacity of 1,000 MW and two turbogenerators having the same capacity along with two excitation systems for the NPP being then under construction.
Both the high-speed turbines manufactured by Power Machines have been enhanced by a number of parameters: the new turbine, having a weight of 2,000 tons and a length of 51 meters, is 1.5 times lighter than a low-speed turbine for nuclear power plants of the same capacity. This allowed to considerably simplify the transportation of turbine nodes to the construction site and facilitate the installation of the unit .
The turbine design comprised titanium condenser cooling tubes allowing to completely eliminate corrosion while working on sea cooling water with high chloride content, as well as bearings of an innovative design which allowed to use nonflammable and non-toxic fluid in the lubrication system thus reducing significantly the fire hazard. Unique 1,200 mm titanium blades have been used in the last stages of low pressure cylinders of the steam turbine.
The two mega-turbogenerators with a capacity of 1,000 MW, manufactured by Power Machines for the Chinese power plant, also have unique features. According to the customer’s requirements, their efficiency has been increased and their maximum capacity was raised up to 1,065 MW, while retaining all the characteristics of the standard 1,000 MW generators.
