Tata Power Provides Employment Opportunities to Local Youth in Orissa

The initiative included a training programme organised for local unemployed youth who have graduated from a recognised university. Forty unemployed youth joined a 15-day programme that provided training in soft skills, corporate etiquette, computer skills and arithmetic. A special team comprising HR, CSR and BPO experts from TCS then conducted interviews for the candidates post the training. In the first round, 32 candidates participated in the written test, out of which 18 candidates qualified for final the interview. Eight candidates were finally selected to join TCS.
Speaking on this initiative, Praveer Sinha, EVP and project director, eastern region projects, said, “We are delighted with the success of this initiative. We pride ourselves in developing the community in and around our projects and providing employment opportunities in the Tata group companies. We plan to implement similar initiatives at Maithon and other eastern region projects in association with TCS and other Tata group companies.”
All selected candidates will join an initial learning programme (ILP) in TCS’s office in Kolkata. After completion of the 23-day ILP, the candidates will begin work on TCS’s rolls.
