OREANDA-NEWS. December 20, 2011. The State Mortgage Institution (SMI) has transferred to municipal ownership of local communities 3526 from 3596 apartments, that representing 99% of the total number of apartments purchased by SMI in 2009 for a free transfer to municipal ownership.

This was stated by the Chairman of the State Mortgage Institution Victor Mirgorodskiy at a press conference.

"As of December 14, from 3596 flats, which state mortgage agency should transfer to municipal ownership, 3,526 apartments have been transferred. That is, it actually is 99% of the amount of apartments that we must pass by the Resolution № 855," he said.

V. Mirgorodskiy recalled that in 2009, the SMI acquired about 5.5 thousand flats for free transfer to persons included in a waiting list, from which about 3.5 thousand - for transfer to municipal ownership, and about 2 thousand apartments - for transferring in official use to employees of ministries and departments.

The SMI Chairman added that the apartments for the transfer for municipal property are purchased in all regions of Ukraine.

He said the process of transferring apartments delayed because by the previous Cabinet of Ministers Resolution № 832 it was not provided the funding mechanism and for the transfer of flats.

"Financial mechanism and mechanism for transfer have not been provided in this Resolution, and therefore the State Mortgage Institution could not actually transfer these apartments one and half years, but only Mykola Azarov's Government had been found a real possibility, sources of funding, developed the mechanism for transfer of flats," the Chairman of SMI explained.
