Klaipeda Port Reports on Cargo Handling in November
OREANDA-NEWS. December 20, 2011. In November 2011 Klaipeda port handled 2,96 million tons of marine cargo, i.e. by 5,1% or 159 000 tons less than in corresponding period in 2010. Slightly lower than average cargo handling results in November this year were caused by bad weather conditions, when wind speed reached approx. 30 m/s for a few days. In November oil import through Butinge terminal amounted to 800,1 thousand tons per month.), reported the press-centre of Klaipeda Port.
765,3 thousand tons of oil products were handled in November 2011, change by -16,7 % or -152,9 thousand tons. Turnover of fertilizersamounted to 757,7 thousand tons in November 2011, i.e. by 18,9 % or 177,0 thousand tons less as compared with the corresponding period in 2010. 440,2 thousand tons of cargo (Ro- ro) were handled in November 2011, which means an increase by 14,2 % or by 54,7 thousand tons as compared with November 2010.
In terms of cargo units, 22 267 units were handled, i.e. by 15,6 % or 3 004 units more as compared with November last year. In November 2011, turnover of containers (in TEU) amounted to 26 250 TEU, i.e. by 1,1% or 284 TEU less than in corresponding period in 2010. In terms of tons, growth in handling figures amounted to 1,9 % or 5,5 thousand tons comparing with November 2010, in total 296,9 thousand tons were handled.
20 300 passengers visited Klaipeda in November 2011, i.e. by 19,1% or 3 258 passengers more than in corresponding period in 2010.
710 ships called at Klaipeda port in November 2011, i.e. by 11,5% or 92 ships less than in corresponding period in 2010.
