OREANDA-NEWS. December 19, 2011. Throughput of the Port of Kavkaz in January-November 2011 declined by 10% compared with the same period of last year, to 7.83 million tons, the Kavkaz Port Authority said.

In the reporting period, sulfur shipments from Kavkaz terminals dropped by 20% to 2.34 million tons, fuel oil exports rose 0.6% to 1.3 million tons. Handling of fertilizer surged by 1.45 times to 539,650 tons, grain exports soared 49% to 360,230 tons.

Ship calls at the port declined by 40% to 1592 units.

Port of Kavkaz is situated between the Azov and the Russian Black Sea coast. The 4.5-m-deep harborage allows handling river boats and seagoing ships (offshore). The port specializes in handling dry bulk cargo (mineral fertilizer, concentrates of various ores, grain), general cargo, timber, and containers. In 2010, cargo throughput of Port of Kavkaz totaled 9.65 million tons.
