The agenda of the workshops was drafted in the way to reach a maximum effect possible out of the complementary competencies of all the speakers who presented their reports. Virtually, each report was followed by a live discussion. Thus, the participants gained the systemic, all-round and complete understanding of a transport constituent of the logistics system in the context of the state regulatory, investment and infrastructural policies, differentiated approach to solving transportation problems, budgeting and freight rates forecasting, end-to-end calculation of tariffs for transportation and freight forwarding services and operational management of a transport business
The report made by Ms. Larisa Gaishuk (Operations Director at UVK) proved a key and most expected presentation. Bringing all the attendees onto the level of the subject matter business processes, Ms. Gaishuk shared with the public her vision onto the paramount pro’s and con’s while deciding on a cargo physical distribution strategy (such as cross-docking, direct delivery, milk-runs and outsourcing), proposed to consider how the transportation related operations were processed in the UVK’s IT system (E-Stock ERP) as well as gave an insight into the company’s management account system and relevant KPI’s
‘Our company is continuously controlling the service level provided for our Customers, which mainly incorporates a delivery SL, CSM SL and communications SL’, stated the UVK’s representative.
‘Our competitive advantage is a ‘smart and well organized’ delivery of cargos. UVK dispatches all its Customers’ cargos with a staff freight forwarding manager accompanying each shipment. An important link within the physical distribution system is the in-house call-center, whose major task is to solve all possible problems occurring ad hoc, on a daily basis. Besides that, we have designed a number of daily monitored reports, which enable to view a number of routes executed, cargos and trucks in movement and cargo hand-over timing. Evaluating a delivery performance, UVK’s average achievement (for the past 5 months) amounts for 97.5%, however our objective set is 99%’, continued Ms. Gaishuk
