Iron Ore Imports Soar in China in November, 2011
OREANDA-NEWS. December 19, 2011. Customs statistics showed China exported 4.20 million tons of steel products in November, up 380,000 from October and an increase of 44.33 percent from a year earlier. The 11-month exports totaled 45.16 million tons, up 13.8 percent from a year earlier.
Steel imports were 1.23 million tons in November, up 30,000 tons month-on-month and a reduction of 10.87 percent year-on-year. In the first eleven months, China imported 14.39 million tons of steel, down 4.2 percent.
Billet imports were 110,000 tons in November and 590,000 tons in the first eleven months, up 4.4 percent year-on-year.
Coke exports were 90,000 tons in November, down 10,000 tons from October, bringing the 11-month figures to 3.20 million tons, up 6.6 percent.
China imported 64.20 million tons of iron ore in November, an increase of 14.26 million tons month-on-month and 11.89 percent year-on-year. The 11-month import figures totaled 622.01 million tons, up 11 percent.
