OREANDA-NEWS. December 19, 2011. Ukraine and Belarus intend to create a Ukrainian-Belarusian center of research and innovation cooperation. As the First Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Economic Development and Trade Andriy Klyuyev has declared, it was agreed at the Twentieth session of the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Belarussian joint commission on trade and economic cooperation held in Kyiv.

The purpose of creation of such Center Andriy Klyuyev called the need to develop a viable mechanism for the Ukrainian-Belarusian cooperation in the field of a science, development of new high technologies and implementation of joint programs and projects.

According to participants of meeting, today cooperation of two states is led, in particular, in such areas as the creation of technologies for data handling of distant study of the Earth for the decision of application-oriented tasks, coordination of activities to establish control and calibration sites for metrological support of spacecraft remote sensing. The joint researches are conducted to create mini-and microsatellites of new generation, and new materials for space applications are tested.

As participants of meeting noted, in connection with implementation beginning within the frameworks of the Space Program of Ukraine scientific and educational programs on start of the youth microsatellites, there were new possibilities for intensification of Ukrainian-Belarusian cooperation and in this area.

"It should be noted, we now successfully cooperating in the field of exploration and use of outer space. I am convinced that space and innovative technologies that we gain through cooperation between Ukraine and Belarus, will be act as "boosters" in the economic development of both countries," Andriy Klyuyev said.
