FAS Took Part in CIS Conference on Competition Law
OREANDA-NEWS. December 16, 2011. Participants of the First Conference on Competition Law of the CIS member-states, that took place in Kiev, Ukraine, took a favourable view of the changes of the antimonopoly law in Russia. The conference organisers included Ukraine’s Association of Lawyers and the International Bar Association (IBA). Russia at the Conference was represented by Deputy Head of FAS, Pavel Subbotin, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.
The welcoming address was given by IBA Vice-President Michael Reynolds. Representatives of the CIS and European authorities, legal firms specialising in competition law, representatives of “Promoting Competition in the CIS Countries” Non-Commercial Partnership.
Deputy Head of FAS, Pavel Subbotin made a presentation “Developing Antimonopoly Law and Enforcement in the Russian Federation”.
He talked about the latest changes in the antimonopoly law of the Russian Federation, in particular, about the “third antimonopoly package of laws” signed by the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev at the beginning of December 2011. Pavel Subbotin paid special attention to strengthening control over the authorities and increasing transparency of FAS efforts and FAS cooperation with foreign competition authorities.
The Conference participants, who were mostly practical lawyers, showed great interest and took a positive view of the changes in the Russian competition law, provided for by “the third antimonopoly package”, and emphasised that these changes will result in significant development of competition law in the Russian Federation.
