OREANDA-NEWS. December 15, 2011. Yandex (NASDAQ: YNDX) has introduced a search app for the iPhone, downloadable for free from the Apple App Store. The Yandex for iPhone app offers iPhone users the fastest and easiest access to Yandex’s search engine, as well as the access to other websites and Yandex services.

“Yandex continues to expand its range of mobile apps. The Yandex for iPhone application was developed from a prototype that won our in-house mobile product competition. Initially, it was a simple search app that the end user could customize to meet their personal needs,” says Konstantin Smetankin, Project Manager. “Then, we took the idea to another level and developed Yandex for iPhone, an app we really wanted to use.”

The user can enter either a search query or a website address into the app’s search bar – the app will know what the user is looking for and will then either offer a page with search results or take the user directly to the destination website.

The Yandex for iPhone app is also handy when it comes to quickly finding weather updates or currency exchange information. To provide users with fast and easy access to their favourite websites, the app features customizable bookmarks.
