Indian Railway Developed Criteria for Taking up New Rail Lines
OREANDA-NEWS. December 15, 2011. Railway may consider taking up new line projects if the concerned State Government agrees to share cost of the project and provide land free of cost. Five New Line projects namely Nadikude-Srikalahasti (309 Km), Tumkur-Chitradurg-Davangere (199.7 Km), Shimoga-Harihar (78.66 Km), Whitefield-Kolar (52.9 Km) and Ratlam-Dungarpur via Banswara (176.47 Km) have been taken up in 2011-12 in which the State Governments have agreed to provide land free of cost and share 50 per cent of remaining cost of the project.
This information was given by the Minister of State for Railways Shri K. H. Muniyappa in a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha today.
