Cathay Pacific Invites Youngsters to Apply for I Can Fly Programme
OREANDA-NEWS. December 15, 2011. Cathay Pacific Airways is now accepting applications for its fifth “I Can Fly” programme, in which 100 Hong Kong young people, aged 15 to 18 and with a passion for aviation and social services, will be recruited to take part in a unique educational experience. Applications can be submitted online through the programme website, http://icanfly.cathaypacific.com, on or before 13 January 2012, reported the press-centre of Cathay Pacific.
Since its launch in 2003, “I Can Fly” has given more than 3,000 local young people the opportunity to learn more about various aspects of the aviation industry and at the same time develop a stronger sense of commitment to their community through various social-service activities.
The latest programme, which will feature an expanded range of activities, will begin in March 2012 and run until the summer. Activities of the 2012 “I Can Fly” programme include:
Ground school training covering flight operations, inflight services, airport services and engineering
Visits to major aviation facilities in Hong Kong
Self-designed Social Service Programme
Visits to prestigious aviation facilities overseas
Cathay Pacific Director Corporate Affairs Quince Chong said: “At Cathay Pacific we have a strong commitment to give something back to the communities we serve, and we are proud to run the ‘I Can Fly’ programme for the fifth time. This is one of our most important community-related activities and the programme has been designed to ensure members get a solid understanding of the aviation industry at the same time as developing a greater sense of social responsibility. We hope the latest ‘I Can Fly’ will bring another 100 young people closer to their dreams.”
