OREANDA-NEWS. December 12, 2011. Tata Power, India’s largest integrated private power company, commissioned its effluent treatment plant in Jojobera, Jamshedpur. The effluent treatment plant has a capacity of 100 cubic metres/hour and is based on the proven solid-liquid separation technology.

Using this technology, the effluent water can be used as clarified water upon treatment. The quality of the water generated from the treatment plant meets with the industry’s specifications; turbidity is less than 10NTU.

Speaking on the occasion, PL Manjrekar, head, Jojobera thermal power station, Tata Power, said, “Water is a valuable resource; the commissioning of the treatment plant in Jojobera makes substantial water saving. It also marks a significant milestone for Tata Power and we are delighted with this achievement. This addition reinforces the company’s sustainability agenda and commitment to water management.”

The state-of-the-art equipment includes flash mixer, flocculator, tube settler, RCC clarified water storage tank and dual media filter, all of which come with an assurance of quality. The technology allows the plant to have low operation and maintenance cost while maintaining excellent product quality. It is expected that the installation of this plant will result in huge savings of raw water due to the recycling and reuse of waste water. The plant has standby equipment to tide over faults so as to ensure there are no disruptions in operations.
