Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has been conferred the 4th India Power Awards 2011 under the ‘Largest CPU in Transmission Sector’ and ‘Overall Utility Performance- Transmission’ Category. Sh. R.T. Agarwal, Director (Finance), POWERGRID received the awards on behalf of the Corporation from the chief guest Sh. C. Rangarajan, Chairman, Economic Advisory Council to Prime Minister, Former Governor of Andhra Pradesh, in a glittering function held on 24th November, 2011 at India Habitat Center, New Delhi in the presence of GM (CP), POWERGRID and other dignitaries. The awards have been given to POWERGRID based on its gigantic transmission network, consistently maintained availability of over 99%, state-of-the-art technology and outstanding performance over the years.

POWERGRID operates and maintains more than 87140 circuit kilometers of EHV transmission lines and plan to add about 50000 circuit kilometers of transmission lines in next five years. Its transmission system availability is more than 99.5% for last five years and was 99.80% in 2010-11 which was highest ever.
