Ukraine, Lebanon to Deep Bilateral Relations
OREANDA-NEWS. December 09, 2011. Ukraine and Lebanon are ready to deepen bilateral relations. This was announced by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov at a briefing in Beirut for results a meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly of Lebanon Nabih Berri.
"We discussed a number of major projects that could be interesting to both countries," the Head of Government of Ukraine has reported.
According to the Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov, Lebanese businessmen put before the governments an issue of establishment a visa-free regime, free trade area creation. In addition, the parties concerned to increase considerably the number of flights between Kyiv and Beirut.
Mykola Azarov also said that Ukraine and Lebanon are interested in implementing on long-term basis of a number of projects related to the supply of Ukrainian agricultural products to Lebanon.
"For 9 months of this year, the trade turnover between the countries has exceeded one billion dollars," the Prime Minister of Ukraine noted.
"But this result far does not exhaust the potential of development of our capabilities," Mykola Azarov said.
Mykola Azarov has also reported that during his official visit yesterday, he has held meetings with Lebanese business leaders and politicians, and he has met with the President of the Republic of Lebanon General Michel Suleiman.
Besides, the Head of Government of Ukraine noted that next year - the 20th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the Republic of Lebanon
"And all these years are characterized by exceptionally friendly relations between our peoples and countries," Mykola Azarov summed up.
