OREANDA-NEWS. December 09, 2011. Private people (residents and non-residents) transferred 124.2 million dollars via Moldovan banks last October, according to data by the National Bank of Moldova (BNM).

The figure exceeds by five per cent the one recorded on the same period of the year before.

During the first 10 months of 2011, Moldovans working abroad sent home 1.188.41 billion dollars, up by 170 million dollars against January-September 2010.

The International Monetary Fund has earlier said that only 60 to 70 per cent of the remittances enter Moldova by official means.

According to the BNM, in September 2011, 42.2 per cent of remittances were in dollars, 39.7 per cent in euros and 18.1 per cent in Russian roubles.
