OREANDA-NEWS. December 09, 2011. By 2013, Ukraine intends to significantly improve the position in the logistics performance index of the World Bank (Logistics Performance Index) and enter to the list of top 50 countries. This was announced by the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Infrastructure Borys Kolesnikov during the conference "Ukraine – view from inside 2011: on the way to success?" organized by the Foundation for Effective Governance in partnership with the British magazine The Economist in London.

"If in 2007, Ukraine ranked 74 place, then in 2010 - 102 from 155 countries. Our task - to enter to the list of top 50," Borys Kolesnikov said.

The World Bank every three years evaluates the effectiveness of logistics, taking into account in calculating the Index logistics performance, including parameters such as quality of customs services, logistics, availability of the infrastructure, access to market rates, the ability to track goods during their movement and timely delivery.

According to Borys Kolesnikov, the Government intends to achieve progress in all these matters. Already in May 2012, it will be introduced high-speed passenger rail traffic with the speed of 160-180 km / hr. For three years, it will be electrified else 4.5 thousand km of tracks (now from 22 thousand km there are electrified 10.5 thousand km) - is a third will reduce the cost value of transportations, and speed of rail traffic will grow by 35%.

Also, in order to make rail transport more attractive for investment, it will be undertaken restructuring of the Ukrzaliznytsia.
