Black Wing Sub-Assembly Site Construction Launched on Aviastar-SP
OREANDA-NEWS. December 09, 2011. At the premises of a UAC subsidiary, “Aviastar-SP” (Ulyanovsk) United Aircraft Corporation President Mikhail Pogosyan and CEO of “Aerocomposit” Anatoly Gaydansky inaugurated the construction of the first composite assemblies production facility, reported the press-centre of UAC.
At the “Aviastar-SP” territory (64 250 m2), allocated for the facility, JSC “Aerocomposit” will launch production of composite sub-assemblies: center section panels, spars and wing integral panels for MC-21 and other UAC programs. The launch of production process is scheduled for 2012.
“The composite production technology is one of the key aspects for the competitiveness of our commercial aircraft product line. In the framework of the UAC strategy, on the base of JSC “Aerocomposit” we’ve founded the center of competence aimed at composite components design and development, production and sales.
The center of competence will consist of engineering center, technological center and production plants. Today we open the first production site providing more than 600 jobs and contributing to the most advanced aviation technology development in this region” – said UAC President Mikhail Pogosyan.
“We will launch a full-cycle composite components production via non-autoclave infusion: starting from lay out and ending with quality control of geometry and paint. The enterprise will reach serial capacity of 100 sub-assemblies per year in 2017. The income is estimated to amount to \\$300 – 350 million” – said JSC “Aerocomposite” CEO Anatoly Gaydansky.
