Gazprom and Irkutsk Oblast Discuss Prospects of Cooperation
OREANDA-NEWS. December 8, 2011. Irkutsk hosted today a working meeting between Alexander Ananenkov, Deputy Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Dmitry Mezentsev, Governor of the Irkutsk Oblast.
The parties discussed the issues surrounding creation of the Irkutsk gas production center as part of the Eastern Gas Program. In this regard special attention was given to the Company's resource base development in the Irkutsk Oblast, the Kovyktinskoye and the Chikanskoye fields development and gas processing projects. In addition, a focus was placed on the further gasification of the region.
Background
The Agreement of Cooperation between Gazprom and the Irkutsk Oblast Government was signed in October 2010, the Accord on Gasification – in December 2009.
The General Scheme for Gas Supply and Gasification of the Irkutsk Oblast was approved by the Directive of the Irkutsk Oblast Government in 2005 and updated in 2009.
Construction of the first phase of the gas trunkline connecting the Bratsk gas and condensate field (GCF) and Bratsk (45th residential district) was completed in December 2007, and gas supplies to the city started. Bratsk was the first among the Irkutsk Oblast population centers to receive pipeline gas. The pipeline's first phase length is 26.6 kilometers. When completed, the Bratsk GCF – Bratsk gas pipeline will be about 70 kilometers long.
