OREANDA-NEWS. December 8, 2011. The Gazprom delegation participated in the 20th World Petroleum Congress that took place in Doha, the capital of Qatar.

The major objective of the Congress is exchanging experience in the gas and oil sectors. Sergey Shmatko, Russian Energy Minister visited an exhibition booth organized by Gazprom as part of the forum.
The World Petroleum Exhibition is dedicated to oil, gas, petrochemistry, innovative ways in oil and gas production, methods of delivery, storage and processing.
Background

The 20th World Petroleum Congress is taking place in Doha (Qatar) on December 4–8, 2011. 500 companies from 25 countries took part in the Congress. The exhibition area totaled 35 thousand square meters.

The Congress is held under the motto “Energy Solutions for All – Promoting Cooperation, Innovation and Investment”.

57 major oil and gas producing countries are members of the World Petroleum Council established in London in 1933. The Congress is arranged by the World Petroleum Council every three years in one of its member states.

The first Congress took place in London in 1933. Moscow hosted the Congress guests and delegates in 1971.
