OREANDA-NEWS. December 08, 2011. The second high-speed passenger train Talgo, which was constructed in Spain for Uzbekistan Temir Yollari state joint stock railway company, arrived in sea port of Saint Petersburg (Russia).

According to the “Morskoy Port Sankt-Peterburg” OJSC (MP SPb), the specialists of the company in cooperation with staff of “Universalniy Eksperditor” successfully unladed the second Talgo train, which will run between Tashkent and Samarkand cities.

Roll-trailers with nine wagons and two locomotives were unloaded from KRAFTCA motor ship to cargo terminal of MP SPb.

After unloading wagons, they were set to railway of the berth, where they will be assembled to single stock by the specialists of Spain’s Patents Talgo S.A.

After that the high speed train with the length of 158 meters with help of Russian locomotive will be transported to depot of Metallostroy station, where it will be inspected and later will be transported to Uzbekistan.

As reported earlier, Uzbekistan received the first high speed passenger train Talgo n July 2011. On 26 August, the train executed first trip from Tashkent to Samarkand. Representatives of Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan, diplomatic corps, management of Uzbekistan Temir Yo'llari, and veterans of railways participated at the first trip.

High-speed train Afrosiyob started to carry out regular trips between two cities from 8 October 2011. Train runs between two cities on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The train leaves Tashkent at 6:55 and arrives in Samarkand at 9:25. It leaves Samarkand at 16:55 and arrives in Tashkent at 19:33.

Afrosiyob train, produced in Spain by Patentes Talgo S. A., runs at the speed of 250 kmh and passes the 344 km distance between Tashkent and Samarkand in two hours.

Total capacity of the train makes up 257 people. The electricity train consists of two locomotives, 8 passenger cars and one dining-car. The train has VIP, first class and economy class places. The trains can be used by people with limited abilities.

According to the latest data, High-speed train Afrosiyob transported over 3,000 passengers on Tashkent-Samarkand-Tashkent route so far.
