OREANDA-NEWS.  December 08, 2011. According to the latest figures, the Russian Railways network carried 80.7 million passengers in November 2011, an increase of 4.7% over the same month last year, reported the press-centre of Russian Railways.

Suburban passengers totalled 72 million, up 5.5%, while long-distance passenger numbers fell by 1.8% to 8.7 million. Passenger turnover in November 2011 amounted to 10.1 billion passenger-kilometres, up 0.4% over the same month last year.

In January-November 2011, Russian Railways carried 909.5 million passengers, an increase of 4.7% over the same period in 2010. Long-distance passenger numbers amounted to 106 million passengers, a decline of 0.1%, while suburban passengers rose 5.3% to 803.5 million. Passenger turnover on the Russian Railways network during the 11 months of 2011 rose by 0.6% compared to 2010 and amounted to 129.7 billion passenger-kilometers.
