Russian Railways Network Ships 104.7 mn Tons in November
OREANDA-NEWS. December 08, 2011. According to the latest figures, the Russian Railways network shipped 104.7 million tons in November 2011, an increase of 0.9% on November 2010, reported the press-centre of Russian Railways.
Compared to November 2010, freight turnover in November 2011 increased by 1.9% to 181.3 billion tariff ton-kilometres. Freight turnover including unladen wagons in November 2011 increased by 3.1% compared to November 2010 and amounted to 230.2 billion ton-km.
Freight volumes in January-November 2011 amounted to 1,136.2 million tons, an increase of 2.8% over the same period in 2010.
The railways shipped the following volumes of freight. The percentage in brackets shows the change compared to January-November 2010
coal - 269.5 million tons (+2.8%)
coke - 11.9 million tons (+3.7%)
oil and oil products - 228 million tons (-1 2%)
iron and manganese ores - 101.5 million tons (+8.7%)
ferrous metals - 67.4 million tons (+1.8%)
ferrous metal scrap - 18.8 million tonnes (- 2.2%)
chemical and mineral fertilisers - 42.4 million tons (+2.2%)
cement - 32.5 million tons (+3.5%)
timber - 37.4 million tons (-1 8%)
grain and milled products - 17.6 million tons (+8.8%)
construction materials - 145.8 million tons (9.9%)
non-ferrous ores and sulphur feedstock - 22 million tons (- 5.9%)
chemicals and soda - 26.4 million tons (-0.3%)
industrial raw materials and moulded materials - 30.8 million tons (-7.3%)
freight shipped in containers - 18.5 million tons (+12.7%).
Freight turnover in 11 months of 2011 totalled 1.94 trillion tariff ton-km (+5.1%), freight turnover including unladen wagons amounted to 2.46 trillion ton-km (+7.6%).
