OREANDA-NEWS. December 07, 2011. The Kazakhmys group and akim of Karagandy region presented a comprehensive plan of socio-economic development for cities of Zhezkazgan and Satpaev, Ulytau region for 2012-2017. The plan was designed on behalf of President Nazarbaev who outlined it during his working trip to Karagandy, reported the press-centre of KASE.

The plan's implementation is being done in a close co-operation with central and local executive government bodies. Under the comprehensive plan, Kazakhmys intends to extend its resource base, take part in implementing measures for industrial and innovative development and modernization of the housing and utilities infrastructure, as well as accomplishment of the region and supplying it with water.

"Zhezkazgan has always been an important region for Kazakhmys. Kazakh copper's history began here. And we firmly tie our company's future with Zhezkazgan. I would like to point out that the measures outlined are aimed not only at maintenance and extension of the company's operations, but also at raising the living standards of the local population", - said Eduarg Ogai, Chairman of Management Board of LLP "Corporation Kazakhmys".
