Mayor of Moscow Takes Ride in Rusich-Stock Train
OREANDA-NEWS. December 6, 2011. The Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin made a visit to Moscow Metro on December 1, 2011 to see the operation of Rusich-stock trains on the Circle line. The Head of Moscow Metro Ivan Besedin showed the Mayor the modern rolling stock and commented on its distinctive characteristics before taking a ride with the Mayor from Novoslobodskaya to Belorusskaya station.
Moscow Metro received its first five-car Rusich-stock train in 2008. Two years later, after the trial run, the train began operation on the Circle line. The arrival of a large batch of trains in 2011 made it possible to replace all the older generation trains running on the Circle line with more modern Rusich-stock trains. As a result, the total of 160 Rusich-stock cars is now in service on one of the busiest lines of Moscow Metro.
Rusich-stock trains have a number of advantages over the older stock: they are less noisy and more energy efficient. For safety reasons, the cars are equipped with CCTV and the system that enables to avoid trapping passengers and their personal belongings by the doors. The trains are also fitted with air conditioning system and devices that ensure safe operation. The new style of car interior enables to increase its capacity and large side windows provide for a better view. The modern stock features the increased number of doors to help passengers get on and off the train faster.
Rusich-stock trains are now in operation on Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya, Filyovskaya, Butovskaya and Circle lines of Moscow Metro. By 2020, they will have replaced the older generation trains running on other lines of Moscow Metro.
