Ukraine’s Yuzhny Port Traffic Rises 25% in Jan-Nov, 2011
OREANDA-NEWS. December 5, 2011. Cargo throughput of the Port of Yuzhny in January-November, 2011 rose by 25 percent from the same period of 2010, to 20,521,500 tons, the state-owned company said.
Eleven-month volume of iron ore totaled 9,229,300 tons, of ammonia – 3,260,900 tons, of coal – 2,195,700 tons, of urea – 2,129,200 tons.
In the reporting period, the port handled 771 ships and 167,230 railcars.
State-owned Yuzhny Merchant Sea Port founded in 1978 is located on the northwest coast of the Black Sea, in the ice-free Small Adzhalyksk (Grygoryivsky) estuary, 30 km northeast of Odessa. The port is connected to the sea by a 3km-long, 14m-deep approach canal. In 2010, throughput of Yuzhny rose year-over-year by 2.1% to 18.22 million tons.
