OREANDA-NEWS. December 05, 2011. OJSC MMC Norilsk Nickel (hereinafter referred to as Norilsk Nickel or the Company) informs that the Company’s President Mr. Andrey Klishas won the highest legal award of the Russian Federation Lawyer of the Year-2011, reported the press-centre of Norilsk Nickel.

Legal Education and Upbringing Award went to Mr. Klishas and Sergey Shakhray, the Head of Executive Office of Russian Audit Chamber, for the joint authorship of the Russian Federation Constitutional Law textbook.

The award was established with the Presidential Decree of October 8, 2009, and is annually presented by All-Russian Public Organization Association of Lawyers of Russia. In 2009, the Presidium of the Association took a decision to give the award for Contribution to Legal Science (the only nomination at the time) to Sergey Alekseev, the world’s famous legal scholar. The winners of Lawyer of the Year-2010 were Alexander Makovsky, the outstanding civil lawyer and co-author of current Civil Code of the Russian Federation, Yevgeny Smolentsev, the last Chairman of the Supreme Court of the USSR, and Nikolay Kropachev, provost of Saint-Petersburg State University. This year there were five nominations.

This is a true honour to receive such a high award, - Mr. Klishas said, - I believe my duty is to continue contributing to the law development in our country. Andrey Klishas is the author of over 35 scholarly works related to constitutional and municipal law in the Russian Federation and abroad. Mr. Klishas is chairman of the Council of the Contemporary History Foundation, and member of the Expert Board of the Russian Ministry of Interior, the Board of Trustees of Association of Lawyers of Russia, and National Council for Corporate Governance. Furthermore, Mr. Klishas is the professor and head of Constitutional and Municipal Law School of Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia, professor of Constitutional and Municipal Law School of Moscow University of Russian Ministry of Interior, and chief researcher in the Institute of Social Research of Russian Academy of Sciences.

In 2008, Mr. Andrey Klishas was awarded Medal of the Order of Merit for the Motherland (class II). For significant contribution into the state policy implementation in the field of Justice, Mr. Klishas was awarded Anatoly Koni Medal. Pursuant to the Order of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Energy, Mr. Klishas received honoris causa for large personal contribution into the industrial development.

Andrey Klishas has a number of awards from Russian Orthodox Church - the Order of Holy Prince Daniel of Moscow (class III), the Order of Saint Sergius of Radonezh (class II), the Order of Saint Seraphim of Sarov (class III) and others.
