OREANDA-NEWS. December 05, 2011. Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Valeriu Lazar and representatives of the Gas Natural Fenosa company, headed by the chairman of the council of the power supply enterprise, Julio Agudo, discussed prospects for the liberalization of Moldova's power sector.

The sides agreed to create a working group to discuss the separation of power supply companies from power distribution ones by April 2012, so as to meet Moldova's commitments within the Energy Community and the EU Energy Package II, according to the Economics Ministry's information and media relations service.

Valeriu Lazar said the law on electric energy will be amended in order to introduce new provisions on energy supply security, especially in terms of monitoring and supervising the market.

The deputy prime minister asked Gas Natural Fenosa to delegate representatives to a special working group to remove deficiencies pointed out by the World Bank's survey "Doing Business 2012". Under this document, Moldova is at the bottom of a top in terms of access to electricity - an index introduced for the first time in 2011.

The representatives of Gas Natural Fenosa invited specialists of the Economics Ministry and National Agency for Regulation of Energy (ANRE) to pay a study visit to Spain, which is one of the countries with the highest quota of renewable energy.

Economics Ministry specialists will collect facts on the work of system operators, energy regulator agency and energy market, the Economics Ministry's information and media relations service said.
