OREANDA-NEWS. December 02, 2011. Ukraine and Russia are discussing synchronization of ratification of the Agreement on the Free Trade Area in the CIS by parliaments of both countries - the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Valentyna Matvienko said during a meeting with Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov.

"The Agreement on the FTA is very important. We have talked today at a meeting with the President of Ukraine and the Speaker of Verkhovna Rada about synchronization of ratification of this Agreement by parliaments of Ukraine and Russia" - said Valentyna Matvienko. She stressed that she believes the agreement opens new opportunities for mutually beneficial trade and removes a number of obstacles.

At the same time the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation expressed hope that e newly elected parliament of Russia ratifies it at the first its session.
