Yakutia Airlines Paid for Monopolistically High Prices
OREANDA-NEWS. December 02, 2011. “Yakutia” Airlines OJSC transferred 759,300 Rubles to the federal budget as a turnover fine for fixing monopolistically high air fares on the Magadan – Anadyr route, reported the press-centre of FAS Russia.
Earlier the Office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service in the Magadan region (Magadan OFAS Russia) found that “Yakutia” Airlines OJSC abused its dominant position on the market of air transportation on the Magadan – Anadyr route. The company fixed and maintained monopolistically high air fares, for which Magadan OFAS Russia fined “Yakutia” Airlines OJSC nearly 760,000 Rubles.
“Yakutia” Airlines OJSC also transferred 300,000 Rubles to the federal budget as a fine for failure to execute the determination of Magadan OFAS Russia on the case on fixing monopolistically high air fares.
“Abusing market evidence has especially adverse impact on local and regional markets of aviation transportation. FAS Russia and its regional offices will continue paying special attention to compliance with the antimonopoly law on these markets”, emphasised the Head of the Section for Air and Highway Transport of FAS Department for Control over Transport and Communications, Ms. Khalida Salekhova.
