OREANDA-NEWS. December 1, 2011. ACI EUROPE (Airports Council International, European division) has summarized the performance of European airports in September 2011.
According to the Council’s report on the performance of 170 European airports, Moscow Domodedovo Airport is maintaining its lead by the dynamics of growth among the European airports of Group 2, which have the passenger traffic ranging from 10 to 25 million passengers a year.
Domodedovo Airport is on top of the list of the fastest growing airports in the second group with the growth rate of 20.5% in September 2011 compared to the same period of 2010. The second position in the rating is taken by Sabiha Gokcen International Airport (SAW) Istanbul (17.5%). The average growth rate in the group for September 2011 compared to September last year is 7%.
ACI EUROPE is a regional branch of ACI Global, whose headquarters is in Geneva, representing the interests of more than 1,500 airports in 170 countries through its regional offices. All of the regional organizations of ACI Global are independent organizations with their own Boards of Directors. This organization is aimed at representing interests of the member airports, searching for ways to cooperate with airlines and other partners to create the conditions necessary for the successful functioning of the industry, and promoting interests of airport operators in the regulatory bodies and legislative structures, as well as opinion makers in the airport business.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Moscow Domodedovo Airport, Dmitriy Kamenshchik, is a member of the Board of Directors of ACI EUROPE.
