First Export of Vegetable Oil via Giurgiulesti Free Port Held
OREANDA-NEWS. December 01, 2011. As it was informed at Danube Logistics, the general investor, owner and the port operator, Giurgiulesti International Free Port started for the first time to load a tanker vessel with Moldovan sunflower oil to be bound for Italy.
The first vessel is planned to carry 3 thou. tones of sunflower oil. Thomas Moser, the Chairman of ICS Danube Logistics SRL, stated on the occasion: “The new vegetable oil facilities at Giurgiulesti International Free Port, will ensure the efficient export of Moldovan vegetable oil to world markets. He has expressed hope that with the start of the operation of the vegetable oil terminal and the upcoming opening of the container and general cargo terminal, Giurgiulesti International Free Port will be rapidly developing into Moldova’s leading logistics centre.
Vaja Jashi, the Chairman of the TransOil Group in his turn added that in 2012 the company expects to export more than 80,000 metric tons of vegetable oil via Giurgiulesti International Free Port. Up to present, total volume of investment into Giurgiulesti International Free Port promotion has made USD 70 mln.
