OREANDA-NEWS. December 01, 2011. Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan approved a programme of targeted measures on developing tourism and increasing export potential of tourism services in Khorezm region in 2011-2012.

Taking into account historic-architecture heritage of Khorezm region in attracting tourists, the programme envisages restoration of historic complexes. In particular, reconstruction works are underway at Muhammad Rahimhan Feruz madrasah, Shergazihan madrasah, Qutlimurat Inak madrasah and it is planned to reconstruct Tosh Hovli Palace, Qazi Qalon madrasah and Qohna Ark madrasah.

In developing hotel infrastructure, it s planned to launch ten hotels, which will offer 350 new rooms. At the same time, it is planned to reconstruct such hotels as Urgench, Sher Hotel and Avesta in Urgench. New motel will be created at Guzar-Bukhara-Nukus-Beinau highway.

Rest bases will be created at Guak-kul, Eshon Ravat, Kichkina Duzloq lakes and Amudarya river. One zone will be located at fishing farm Ota Harrot.

Wide-scale works on developing tourism infrastructure will be conducted in Urgench city. It is planned to reconstruct roads, construct 12 public catering sights, 14 trade points, two national cloths shops and other objects. Tourism infrastructure will be developed in Khiva city, including around Ichan-Kala complex.

The programme includes measures on organization of entertainment events, directed at demonstrating customs and traditions of people, and local culture.
