OREANDA-NEWS. December 01, 2011. The new Full Flight Simulator (FFS) of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 aircraft is ready to train Russian pilots, reported the press-centre of UAC.

The FFS produced by Thales (France) is a highly technologically training device recreating the SSJ100’s cockpit. It has been set up in Zhukovsky, Moscow Region, by the Training Center managed by SuperJet International, the joint venture between Alenia Aeronautica - a Finmeccanica Company - and Sukhoi Holding.

The FFS has passed several functional tests in accordance with international standards and received the necessary approvals by the Russian Aviation Authority. The FFS has been initially certified as an “interim Level C” per JAR FSTD (EASA ).

The simulator is currently available for first class training. In the end of November, the first Type Rating Course for Aeroflot pilots will be launched on a regular basis.

The training program will include three stages. First, a theoretical course of ground training aimed at studying all systems of the aircraft. This course includes Computer Based Training (CBT) as well as FPTD (Flight Procedure Training Device), which simulates the flight crew cockpit’s interface.

Second, a 32-hours practical training targeted at getting experience in aircraft control. It also includes Multi Crew Cooperation (MCC) course using a fixed Flight Training Device (FTD).

The third stage includes 48-flight hours of training on the advanced Full Flight Simulator.

The new SSJ100 “Reality 7” FFS is equipped with advanced LCOS Projectors for the visual system, electro-hydraulic motion system and a new instructor operator station with improved ergonomics.

The innovative visual system provides for simulating external environment that pilots can see at various flight stages. In this way the pilot gets the same feedback to its control operations as if he had been performing a real flight.

This state of the art device will allow Russian pilots to improve their skills and obtain Type Rating certificate without real life aircraft operations.

At the second stage, the device will be upgraded to the “level D” which is the maximum level of a FFS certification according to JAR FSTD A regulation, with the possibility to carry out ZFTT programs (zero flight time training) in the future.

The courses will be managed by SuperJet International instructors that are responsible for training of SSJ100 pilots worldwide.

Thales Training & Simulation is to deliver two more FFS for the SSJ100 in 2012. One will be installed at Aeroflot Training Center in Moscow, Sheremetyevo, and the other one in the SJI’s training center in Venice, where in 2012 training programs will engage Interjet crews.

“The training activity represents one of SuperJet International’s major commitments – states Carlo Logli, Chief Executive Officer – Since its incorporation SJI has recognized the strategic choice in providing Customers with a full spectrum of first class services, including technical support and training activity. This is what we are actually doing through our experienced and international aviation personnel”.

“The timely and proper training of airlines’ pilots is an important part of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 Program. Undoubtedly, the entry into operation of the FFS will help us to work more efficiently in this area” said Vladimir Prisyazhnyuk, President of Sukhoi Civil Aircraft.

SuperJet International, which is in charge of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 sales in Western markets, is also responsible for training and after-sales support all over the world. Given the international nature of the product, SuperJet International has established two training facilities based in Venice and in Moscow.
